The Gift of Grace
If you could receive a gift from your best friend, what would it be?
Maybe you would like a new computer game, a new stereo or even a new top of the range sports car. Christmas and birthdays are a great time for receiving and giving presents. Sometimes we can get more excited about giving presents as we can about receiving them!
If you could give someone any present at all what would it be and who would you give it to?
Maybe you would buy a relative a house or you'd pay for someone to go on a dream holiday. Perhaps you'd give someone something that wouldn't cost much, but that would really mean something to that person.
What would you ask for if you could get a gift from God?
God loves to give gifts to people. You just ask and He gives it to you. This doesn't necessarily mean you can ask for a sports car and a luxury home with a swimming pool and servants on an exotic island and expect to get it. If that were the case, all the exotic islands of the world would be packed with people. One of the gifts God wants to give us is the gift of grace.
'Because of his love, God had already decided to make us his own children through Jesus Christ. That was what he wanted and what pleased him, and it brings praise to God because of his wonderful grace. God gave that grace to us freely, in Christ, the One he loves. In Christ we are set free by the blood of his death, and so we have forgiveness of sins. How rich is God's grace, which he has given to us so fully and freely.' Ephesians 1 v 5-8 (NCV Anglicised Edition).
